Altcoins To Watch Out For In 2025

February 10, 2025 (Investorideas.com Newswire) If you have been investing in cryptocurrency for 5 years, seeing how well embraced it is in popular investment circles is a bizarre sight. There was a time when traditional investors and PR mouthpieces would besmirch how it had no value and "wasn't real money" - whatever that means.

Using Crypto In Various Markets

Those who have conviction in the market have been rewarded handsomely. I'm not going to lie; the last few months have been great for cryptocurrency investors, but the barren wasteland of 2023 was a far cry from the euphoria we've seen in the market over the last three months.

One of the main characteristics of a wise investor is the ability to adapt to a market. It's not just about drawing lines, head and shoulder patterns, and breaking down four-hour candles and RSI data.

Of course, there's definitely scope for that, but there are other considerations. However, just as many traditional investors were laughing at the idea of Bitcoin being a serious investment, shrewd investors were examining the activity of BlackRock and other funds, all looking for crypto exposure.

Those with their ear to the ground could see that the market was going for cryptocurrency casinos, which provide a genuine route for people to use their crypto for games of a more traditional ilk, such as poker. While real money poker might still be the dominant force in that area of casino gaming, there's no disputing the fact that alternate payment providers, many of whom also accept "real money," are increasing their capacity to facilitate crypto payments.

Many crypto investors draw comparisons between the psychology of poker, as detailed below, and trading strategies. While there's some crossover in mentality, spotting patterns, and observing human behavior, plenty of other differences keep the two separate.

Is There Still Potential For Major Growth?

Many investors who have made money from stocks, commodities, or forex, whatever it may be, who have at least allocated a percentage of their portfolio into cryptocurrency throughout 2023 will have outperformed the markets in Q4 of 2024 and Q1 of 2025. In February 2023, the price of Bitcoin was around $23,000; in February 2025, it is floating between $97,000 and $104,000.

The price has increased by over 400% in two years, making it the best-performing asset of 2024. While these figures are impressive, those joining the party slightly later have a much smaller chance of making a similar gain.

That's not to say there isn't potential in the market-Bitcoin is still considered the seminal asset in the space, but for more significant gains throughout 2025, investors and crypto analysts have been looking at some altcoins that may have potential. Here are a few picks that crypto analysts have highlighted.

Hyperliquid (HYPE)

Undoubtedly one of the greatest airdrops of all time, many cryptocurrency investors write off Hyperliquid as a perp DEX. While that's the primary use case, the platform has so much potential, and it still has a long way to go before reaching its full potential.

Over half the amount allocated for the airdrop still hasn't been allocated; it's earmarked for future incentives. The perp DEX still only uses the Arbitrum bridge, hasn't launched the EVM, has a set of NFTs to distribute to high-net-worth users, and is still on course to become completely decentralized-which caused criticism in January and caused the price to slump.

Currently, the price is hovering in the early $20 range. Still, with an all-time high in the mid $30 range and one of the few projects that can showcase a truly consistent profitable platform, strength against BTC fluctuations, and passionate community, it could be one of the alts that surprises people.

Solana (SOL)

Some investors believe Solana has peaked, considering it has gone from single figures to over $230. However, as the price has cooled off and is back below the $200 range, the chain remains the premium choice for those trading memecoins, and if altcoin season was to ignite, memes would take off - and Solana could see gains that push it toward the $300 region.

US-Based Cryptocurrencies

Due to the sharp U-turn in the US - the country is now looking to become one of the global leaders in cryptocurrency research and investment. The fortunes of some of the top US-based blockchain and cryptocurrency companies have been given a massive welcome boost. Altcoins that fall into this category include XRP, XLM, and HBAR - all of which have headquarters in the US.

They all fall into the same bracket as BTC, though; they've all experienced huge gains recently, especially XRP, which has gone from the $0.50 range to $2.50 within a few months. So, thoroughly research these assets before embarking on any investment.

Final Say

Altcoins can be volatile, and especially in the current global investment climate, it pays to be wary. While we've highlighted some of the coins that experts feel might have another lease of life, you should only invest in crypto projects you understand and with money you can afford to lose.
