CFCR May Webinar Overcoming the War on Drugs: A Personal Cannabis Journey To Deliver Fascinating Account of Resilience and Perseverance

The Story of "Bosco" Adams Journey from Incarceration to Advocate To Serve as Focus of Next Webinar, Thursday, May 25, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. ET

Washington, D.C. - May 23, 2023 (Investorideas.com Newswire) This month's webinar hosted by the Council for Federal Cannabis Regulation (CFCR), will offer up a true tale of redemption, following the far-too-often repeated story of an individual incarcerated for a non-violent cannabis offense.

Only this story has something approaching a far happier ending than most.

Quawntay Adams, aka "Bosco," grew up in Compton, California where he was a product of his environment - family, friends, neighborhood; which led him to an early life of drug dealing, arrests, and convictions. At the age of 27, he was arrested and convicted of a felony account to attempt to possess marijuana, resulting in him receiving serve a 35-year sentence. After attempting to escape three times from a maximum-security prison, one of which was successful (although he was ultimately recaptured), Adams fired his lawyer, represented himself in court and secured his legal release from prison.

Adams has subsequently authored and published the book, "Chasing Freedum," which he wrote while still in jail. Since his release, he has written, and also serves as the executive producer of, the movie "Bosco," which chronicles his prison escape with the help of an older woman he met through a lonely-hearts ad. The movie will be released in late 2023 and is directed by Nicholas Manuel Pino, and stars Thomas Jane, Vivica A. Fox, Tyrese Gibson and includes an original soundtrack by Snoop Dog and others.

This month's CFCR seminar, presented in the style of a "fireside chat" will consist of a frank and powerful conversation with Adams and CFCR marketing consultant Steve Goldner. Moderated by Christine De La Rosa, Chair of the CFCR DEI & Access Committee, the webinar will preview the film while also shedding light on both Adams' personal journey and the continuing inequities associated with cannabis offenders, thousands of whom are still serving time.

CFCR's monthly webinars take place on the last Thursday of every month (depending on holidays), with each one spotlighting a wide range of regulators, legislators and industry professionals with a focus on preparing to regulate today's legal cannabis molecules and products. Each webinar will consist of a 40-minute interactive conversation followed by approximately 20-minutes of moderated audience Q&A for a total run-time of approximately one hour.
