Nextorage For PlayStation

March 24, 2022 (Investorideas.com Newswire) Storage for PlayStation has been a problem plaguing PlayStation owners since the latter half of the PS4 generation, with games becoming, at times, unreasonably large - unlike online slots in Sri Lanka that take up little to no space at all. This issue was addressable on a PS4 with the addition of a USB 3 enabled external drive, but still came at a cost to drive speed. Games on an external drive would almost always load slower than games on internal drives.

The PS5 generation has come with lighting fast 700mbps capable SSD, and what seems like it would be enough storage, 875 GB of SSD storage should be enough for anybody, right? Well, that's the thing, it isn't. Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War alone is more than 200 GB, and a lot of other great games break the 100 GB mark too. Only 5 to 10 games being installed at a time doesn't leave a lot of room for keeping your old favourite games around. Fortunately, Sony addressed this by supplying an extra M.2 NVMe drive slot.

So, any M.2 drive would, in theory, work, but could bring about issues of cooling and available speeds. At first, it seemed like Sony would only supply a list of compatible drives, but now, Sony has stated that their subsidiary, Nextorage, would supply drives specifically tailored to work in the PS5. This stands as a new revenue stream for Sony and an advantage for anybody wanting to buy the right drive for their PlayStation.
