Cannabis Doing Good Awards Gala Partners Showcase Industry Commitment to Social Responsibility

Denver - October 11, 2019 (Investorideas.com Newswire) Making a difference with a little help from our friends! Cannabis industry leaders including BDS Analytics, Sweet Mary Jane, Lightshade, Native Roots and many others are showing their commitment to community at the A Night at the Cabaret: A Gala to Benefit Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains featuring the Cannabis Doing Good Awards in Broomfield on Thursday, Oct. 17.

"The cannabis sector has the potential to be a powerful force for good in communities across the country. We are honored that so many of our local cannabis leaders have come together for this event, A Night at the Cabaret, not only to do good, but also to celebrate those businesses championing community engagement, sustainability and social equity," said Courtney Mathis, CEO, Cannabis Doing Good.

BDS Analytics is an event partner. Elizabeth Stahura, Co-founder and President of BDS Analytics, remarked: "BDS Analytics is beyond proud to support Cannabis Doing Good and to honor the organizations and individuals who make outstanding contributions to our industry and community. Cannabis has deep roots in activism, community engagement and giving back. As a company and as individuals the BDS Analytics team is proud to be a part of that legacy and we are committed to being a force for good in our community. The Cannabis Doing Good Gala is an opportunity to further that mission, contribute to an important cause, and support the cannabis community together in one event and we are excited and honored to be a part of it."

Also supporting the event, Sweet Mary Jane founder Karin Lazarus said: "At Sweet Mary Jane we know that giving strengthens personal values. We try to be humane and helpful and hopefully make a difference to other individuals and seek opportunities to make the world around us better. One of the ways we do so is by fighting for human rights. Planned Parenthood is essential to provide assistance to women at times of need; Sweet Mary Jane wants to be a part of that assistance and support a cause we deeply care about."

Another event supporter, dispensary retail brand Lightshade, has fostered a culture of giving through the development of its 'Five Pillars'- the dispensary's CSR program is focused on providing help for nonprofits that serve some of the most vulnerable people in the communities where it operates. Putting a spotlight on homelessness, food scarcity, veterans, sustainability and public health and safety, Lightshade works closely with Aurora Warms the Night, The Gathering Place, Senior Support Services, Project Sanctuary and holding the cannabis seat on CDOT's Drunk and Impaired Driving Task Force.

"At Lightshade we are committed to supporting the work that Planned Parenthood does in our community- whether that is helping both men and women make conscious decisions about family planning, advancing sexual health, or the basics: guaranteeing women across Colorado the right to choose," said Lisa Farrimond-Gee, Director of Marketing & CSR at Lightshade. "There is a synergy between the thought around legal cannabis and the work that Planned Parenthood does- it's the core belief that each person has the right in our country to self-determination, whether that is reflected in the medicine or recreational substance they want to use, or the right to privacy that guarantees us the right to choose when and if we become parents and to a healthy lifestyle."

Native Roots has also partnered with Cannabis Doing Good for the awards gala. The cannabis company has a history of giving back - the organization recently donated thousands to the Chanda Plan Foundation as part of an International Day of Charity promotion and has given over 1,300 hours of hands on community service since 2017.

"Community is a company value at Native Roots. From cultivating and manufacturing quality cannabis to providing excellent customer service to our patients and customers to giving back through philanthropy and volunteerism, community is at the center of our work each and every day. We're thrilled to be joining hands with other socially responsible industry partners to support the 2019 Cannabis Doing Good Awards and Gala."

Hosted by Cannabis Doing Good, Mason Jar Event Group and Irie Weddings & Events, A Night at the Cabaret has been made possible by partners including Wallflower Rentals, Circus Collective, Ignight Entertainment, Elite Entertainment, Sensi Magazine, Nuvolution and GreenScreens.
