MLB Trade Deadline Today, MGM and Caesars Look to Expand Sports Betting and NFL Legend Bobby Beathard to be Inducted Into HOF on Saturday

Today is the MLB trade deadline and so far this month Manny Machado has been traded to the Dodgers from the Orioles, Brad Hand to the Indians from the Padres, Mike Moustakas to the Brewers from the Royals, Zach Britton to the Yankees from the Orioles, Cole Hamels to the Cubs from the Rangers and Joakim Soria to the Brewers from the White Sox. ESPN has a list of all transactions in the past week.

As legal sports betting in the U.S. continues to see more adoption, both MGM Resorts International and Caesar Entertainment have joined to cash in, according to the Associated Press. MGM's Borgata casino-resort in New Jersey and Caesars' Bally's casino in Atlantic City currently offer sports betting. The AP quotes Kevin Ortzman, who runs Caesars Entertainment's three Atlantic City casinos:

"The sports betting customer is not your typical core gaming customer that Atlantic City has been used to," he said. "Offering this as another wagering opportunity opens up a whole new chance to integrate this with our food and beverage, gaming and entertainment offerings."

NFL legend Bobby Beathard will be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame on Saturday. Beathard was in the NFL for 38 years, winning four and competing in seven Super Bowls as General Manager of the Kansas City Chiefs (1966), Miami Dolphins (1972,1973), Washington Redskins (1982,1983,1987) and the San Diego Chargers (1994). The AP reports that Beathard's favourite memory of his career was the 1972 Miami Dolphins but that every time one of his teams made it to the finals was a highlight.

"...they were all memorable. Any time we made it to that last game, it meant that we were going to the Super Bowl. Those were always great memories."

GVC Holdings and MGM Announce Joint Venture for Sports Betting Platform and WWE Extends Australian Broadcasting Agreement with Foxtel
