Greg reports, "Our main event ended in the third round with Ron Pryce (NBBC) defeating George Vourtsis ( Sunshine Coast) for the BC Welterweight Title. It was an exciting fight that gave new and old boxing fans a great night."
The crowd was also treated to an exhibition round of women/s boxing with Sarah Pucek (City Boxing) and Jamie Ward. Sarah Pucek is competing for her Canadian championship challenge on Dec. 7 th. The crowd witnessed four rounds of boxing excellence.
Le Stage Boxing, Beyond Boxing, Aegis, Ocean City, Port Kells, and Action Boxing were also represented at the amateur boxing event.
Greg also said, " Harrison boxing would like to thank everyone that attended our December 1st event. We had a spectacular night of amateur boxing and managed to raise about 100 lbs of food for the local food bank. "
Photographer Tyler Garnham took over 1000 photos, many of which will be available on his website soon.
"Our next event won't be happening until about the same time next year, at which time I am hoping to raise at least 4 times as much food and host more than one title fight. Thank you to all our volunteers and press outlets that made this possible."
The Harrison boxing program is based on some very basic principles. It develops a high cardiovascular level of fitness to help perform techniques properly, but most importantly the program is based upon the theory "Have a strong mind, you will have a strong body." Greg believes whether you think can or think you can't - you're right!
