Doug Biles brings over 35 years of experience in the upstream hydrocarbon industry to his role as President and CEO of WesCorp Energy, Inc. (OTCBB: WSCE). This experience includes a broad scope of technical, operational, management and board issues, ranging from company formation, license negotiations - both from the government and the operator sides - through greenfield and rehabilitation projects to sales of companies. Mr. Biles was Chairman of the Chinook Group from 1993 to 2003. During his tenure at Chinook, he was temporarily assigned to four of its clients: the Republic Of Azerbaijan, where he was the country's Adviser and lead negotiator for oil and gas from 1993 to1994; Bridas Energy International SA, where he was technical director from 1994 to 1995; Dragon Oil plc, where he was technical director from 1995 to 1997; and Atlantic Caspian Resources plc, where he was CEO and director from 1997 to 1999.
Mr. Biles was also a Director for two Kerr McGee Corporation subsidiaries, Operations Manager for Murphy Oil Company of Canada, Ltd., and Country Production Manager for Kerr McGee Canada, Ltd. Hes is a member of the Alberta Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists (APEGGA) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Mr. Biles holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, both from the University of Calgary.
TWST: Would you begin with a brief overview of Wescorp and what you see as your business and organization today?
Mr. Biles: Wescorp Energy, Inc. (WSCE.OB), is a technology company that provides environmental, smart solutions for the oil and gas producing industry. Our technologies assist producers in reducing their operational budgets and environmental risks. By doing so, we allow them to focus on their core competencies of increasing production, resulting in increased shareholder value.
TWST: Would you describe for us what you mean by environmental smart solutions? Specifically, what are some of your services or products?
Mr. Biles: Over Wescorp's five-plus-year history, we have provided a series of technology. But more specifically, one of our environmental solutions is our patented oil/water separations technology, the industry knows it as H20 Maxx. H20 Maxx is a patented process that provides the oil and gas producers with a solution to their produced water issue. Produced water is the water - waste stream - that comes up with their oil or gas production and must be disposed of in an environmental way.
TWST: How has the economy and the overall demand cycles for oil and gas impacted your operations?
Mr. Biles: Interestingly, it has actually improved our operations, and that's because one of the key initiatives in the development of our technologies is helping the end client saving money. In a booming economy, the oil industry is usually too busy to look at such technologies, given that the companies are making money. When there is a downtown, the oil industry is looking at cutting cost and reducing overhead, so it's a good time for us to be marketing.
TWST: Which of your oil and gas solutions has the greatest potential?
Mr. Biles: Our greatest potential is our water remediation technology and all that goes with that. We have spent a lot of time and effort researching various water remediation processes and technologies, and believe that water and its industrial usages will be a issue larger than oil and gas reserves around the world. We have been focused on this market from the inception of Wescorp, some five and half years ago. During that time, we proved, validated and commercialized our H2Omaxx technologies, and with industry support believe it would help push our revenue level and in turn our stock prices.
