March 24, 2017 (Investorideas.com Newswire) In light of proposed funding cuts to public media, PBS' President, Paula Kerger will be in Detroit on March 24th - on her second trip to Detroit since she became head of the network - for a presentation to members of the Detroit Economic Club (DEC) on the impact of public media. Detroit Public Television (DPTV) will stream the event live online at http://dptv.org/dec.
In her presentation to the DEC, Kerger will share insights into PBS' efforts to remain trusted, innovative and relevant amid a rapidly changing media environment. She will also discuss how PBS, often referred to as America's Largest Classroom, is working with stations like Detroit Public Television (DPTV) to close the achievement gap.
At a time when other media outlets are cutting back, the role of public media has never been more important or vital. Last year, DPTV reinforced its commitment to Detroit by opening a Detroit bureau and deploying a team of reporters and producers to engage the community in issues that matter to them most. It's all part of our initiative to tell the stories of Detroit on-air, online and in the community. For more about DPTV's One Detroit initiative, visit http://dptv.org/onedetroit.
