Cannabis Life Conference Features job recruitment, cancer treatment, pets and women’s health companies
Point Roberts, WA and Delta, BC - July 13, 2017 (Investorideas.com Newswire) Investorideas.com, a global news source and investor resource covering cannabis and hemp stocks issues coverage on the recently held Cannabis Life Conference http://cannabislifeconference.com/
What brings together spirituality, job recruitment, cancer treatment, pets, women's health, marketing and sexuality? The answer, of course, is the emerging cannabis sector which was on full display at the Cannabis Life Conference at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver from July 7 to 8. The conference gathered exhibitors and speakers from across the already diverse industry to promote and educate about various products and services in the cannabis space.
Strolling through the exhibition hall strewn with some 40 different businesses, taking in a panel in the speaker hall, and being periodically offered a baked good by a generous attendee, one is struck by the unrivalled variety in application that cannabis has.
A spokesman for NextLeaf Solutions, a cannabis and hemp extraction and distillation services company, commented on the shift towards business in the cannabis community.
"These conferences I've been to, even last year was a little different than this year," he said. "At this conference today we're seeing investors and people who are trying to understand the industry. They've seen significant value created in public companies in the cannabis space area."
This shift is partly a response to the legalization of cannabis seen in U.S. states like Washington and Colorado, but also the planned legalization in Canada next year. Canadian legalization is met with skepticism by some in the cannabis community, who are concerned about regulation.
One speaker, marijuana activist Freddie Pritchard, known as 'DaWeedKing' on his YouTube channel, denounced the Trudeau government's planned legalization in his speech, and expressed concern over the continuation of criminalization that would result from heavy regulation of the industry.
"This is a fake legalization," he said. "Bill C-45 strictly says they're going to spend more money on surveillance, prevention, monitoring and enforcement."
Pritchard also said that the regulation would exclude many in the cannabis community.
"Government is trying to take full control over our cannabis," he said. "It's going to be the only legal supply and I'll tell you when it comes down the pipeline there aren't going to be a lot of you in here that like it."
The spokesman for NextLeaf Solutions said that regulation will indeed streamline the industry, which may upset some in the community, but that it is inevitable and necessary for business.
"It's becoming, probably to the chagrin of some people, more formalized, more structured," he said. "At the end of the day, I'm sorry, there's going to be regulations. Those people have to make a business decision."
