Montréal, QC, and Fall River, MA - June 18, 2013 (Investorideas.com renewable energy newswire) Écotech Québec and ACTION (Association of Cleantech Incubators of New England) announced today a formal collaboration to encourage business and research partnerships between the cleantech sectors of the New England region (United States), and Québec (Canada).
Cleantech developers, cleantech end-users and research institutions affiliated with both organizations will benefit from an expanded network to facilitate development and commercialization of cleantech.
"New England and Québec have similar priorities in terms of energy and cleantech. We face similar weather challenges and share a border. It makes sense to strengthen the relationship between the cleantech sectors of our respective regions” said Denis Leclerc, president and CEO of Écotech Québec. Écotech Québec and ACTION will support each other’s goals and develop a leading collaboration in the area of clean technology entrepreneurship, innovation, demonstration and commercialization. The organizations will also encourage the academic institutes in both regions to develop student and researcher exchange programmes in the field of cleantech.
"Among the many opportunities presented by this effort, we plan on conducting matchmaking events to encourage industrial interest that will enable our respective member companies to become involved in demonstration projects or achieve sales together” said Michael Ryan, president of ACTION. Both organizations and their respective governmental partners recognize that the cleantech sector is an engine of job creation and prosperity that plays an important part in making the economy more sustainable and competitive. The partnership between Écotech Québec and ACTION will increase these synergies in order to help the cleantech sector reach its full potential.
