WASHINGTON - June 14, 2013 (www.investorideas.com newswire) Attorneys who are the "first responders" dealing every day with Americans in financial distress will tell Congress Monday (June 17, 2013) that student loans are a national crisis that demands swift action by federal lawmakers.
Daniel Press, a Virginia bankruptcy attorney and a director of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) will participate in a briefing before the U.S. House of Representatives entitled "The Crushing Burden of Private Student Loan Debt." The briefing takes place at 2 p.m. Monday in room 2226 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
Restoring bankruptcy discharge for private student loans is needed now to address this national crisis, according to the remarks to be delivered by Daniel Press.
On February 7, 2012, NACBA released a widely covered survey of bankruptcy attorneys on the scale of the student loan debt crisis. The key findings and related analysis are available online here.
The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (http://www.nacba.org) is the only national organization dedicated to serving the needs of consumer bankruptcy attorneys and protecting the rights of consumer debtors in bankruptcy. Formed in 1992, NACBA has approximately 3,500 members located in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
