Suncor Energy stocks continue to trade well as the price of oil rose to near US$94 earlier today, ahead of the release of U.S. industrial production and manufacturing figures that analysts expect to show an improving economy.
By early afternoon in Europe, benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude for April delivery was up 60 cents at US$93.63 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract had risen 51 cents to close at US$93.03 on the Nymex on Thursday.
Suncor Energy Inc., together with its subsidiaries, operates as an integrated energy company. The company primarily focuses on developing petroleum resource basins in Canada's Athabasca oil sands; explores, acquires, develops, produces, and markets crude oil and natural gas in Canada and internationally; transports and refines crude oil; markets petroleum and petrochemical products primarily in Canada; markets third-party petroleum products; and engages in energy trading activities. It operates in Oil Sands, Exploration and Production, and Refining and Marketing segments. ManuLife Financial Corporation (TSX:MFC) trading at $15.510 moved up $0.080 or 0.52% on a volume of 3,393,874 shares.
Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY) trading at $61.610 gained $0.020 or 0.03% on a volume of 3,189,756 shares.
