SEPA to Host First 2009 Regional Workshop: "Solar Options for Low Cost Utilities"
Knoxville, Tennessee - April 13-14

Washington, D.C. -- The Solar Electric Power Association is proud to announce the first of its 2009 Workshop Series: "Solar Options for Low Cost Utilities," at the Hilton Knoxville on April 13th and 14th. The workshop targets utilities in the low cost electricity states of the Midwest and Southeast and is open to all utilities, State Public Utility Commissions, State Energy Offices, and solar companies. This is a low cost workshop with a registration fee of $125 for SEPA Members and $250 for non-members. TVA is sponsoring the event in conjunction with the City of Knoxville.
Keynotes and Session topics will include:
- Solar Market Trends and Utility Engagement
- Solar Codes and Standards
- Solar Electric Technology: Options and Applications for Today and Tomorrow
- Interconnection & Net Metering: State Policies and Considerations
- Utility Metering & Interconnection Practices
- Customer Perspectives on Solar Incentive Programs
- Green Power Switch Program and Solar Generation Partners Program
- Solar Procurement
"SEPA's focus on educating utilities about the use and integration of solar electricity is more important than ever," said Julia Hamm, SEPA executive director. "As utilities explore options to incorporate solar into their portfolio, more forums are needed to facilitate information sharing with their peers. SEPA's 2009 Workshop Series provides regionally focused events to help utilities better understand how to incorporate solar projects and programs into the utility business."
This workshop is targeted to an electric utility audience. However, registration is open to all who are interested. Registration Fees: SEPA Members: $125 /Non-Members: $250.

Host Hotel: The Solar Electric Power Association has chosen the Hilton Knoxville as the host hotel. A group rate of $99 per night, plus applicable taxes is available. The Hilton Knoxville hotel is a full service hotel situated in the heart of downtown Knoxville, the gateway to scenic East Tennessee.
