JAPAN'S CALSONIC KANSEI TO LAUNCH CHINA AUTOPARTS SITES

TOKYO - Calsonic Kansei Corp. (TSE:7248) said Friday that it will build a development center and two manufacturing plants in China for autoparts. The move is in response to the expansion of main customer Nissan Motor Co.'s (TSE:7201) Chinese operations. Calsonic Kansei will invest a total of 4.6 billion yen (US$41.4 million) in the new sites. It aims to generate 20-30 billion yen in sales in China by 2008. The company will open the development center in Shanghai in November and spend 600 million yen on it over the next three years. Besides autoparts development, the center will carry out research.
