Interview with Zacks Investment Research – Christopher Huemmer to Discuss the Zacks Small Cap Index
“We see Small Caps Performing Well in the Upcoming Terms”
About Zacks Investment Research:
Zacks Investment Research is a Chicago based firm with over 24 years of
experience in providing institutional and individual investors with the
analytical tools and financial information necessary to the success of their
investment process.
Zacks Small Cap Index™
Zacks is a pioneer in the development of a new type of index, which we call
a “semi-active” index and whose constituents are selected based on merit.
Over the past ten years the Zacks Small Cap Index produced significant
excess returns compared to all three widely-recognized passive small cap
indices. The objective of the Zacks Small Cap Index is to outperform active
small cap managers and passive small cap benchmarks.
The Zacks Small Cap Index contains 250 equally weighted, liquid, small cap
stocks. A proprietary quantitative methodology generates alpha by selecting
stocks that have reported strong earnings surprises. Strict risk controls
ensure that the broad sector exposure of the Zacks Small Cap Index remains
in-line with the sector exposure of the equally weighted small cap universe.
The Zacks Small Cap Index is a strategic index. It is not designed to
replicate the market or indicate how the average small cap stock performed.
Rather, the Zacks Small Cap Index emphasizes constituent selection. The
Zacks Small Cap Index is rebalanced quarterly, but index constituents are
reviewed weekly for possible dilution or deletion from the index.
