The Demand for Natural Gas inside China Will Hit 100 Billion Cubic Meters in 2010, While the Supply Can Reach 80 Billion Cubic Meters

DUBLIN, Ireland--July 15 2008--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/efddc6/china_natural_gas) has announced the addition of the "China Natural Gas Industry Report, 2008" report to their offering.

Natural gas is clean, high effective and easy to transmit and store. The reserves of natural gas in the world are very rich. Presently, coal is the major energy used in China, taking 72% of the total, while natural gas covers only 2.5%, far less than the world’s average level of 25% and 8.8% in Asia. The natural gas consumption per capita in the world is 403 cubic meters annually, while the consumption in China is 25 cubic meters only.

In 2006, China’s oil and natural gas exploitation industry fulfilled a total industrial output value of CNY759.073 billion, hiking 24.74% over 2005, with the growth speed dropping 16.56 percentage points on the corresponding period of the earlier year. Meanwhile, the industry accomplished sales revenue of CNY773.656 billion accumulatively, presenting a year-on-year growth of 24.22%, and the total profits decreased by 24.22% to CNY 363.569 billion. In the year, the natural gas output was 58.551 billion cubic meters, jumping 19.24% year on year.

China’s natural gas industry is still in the primary development period, and the natural gas output can only cover the demand. So, the country should gradually develop natural gas as the substitution for oil, make natural gas generate power and the major energy resource in urban areas.

The demand for natural gas in China, bolstered by the energy demand in Shanghai and other areas, will maintain a 11-13% growth. The demand for natural gas will hit 100 billion cubic meters in 2010, while the supply can reach 80 billion cubic meters. The projects aiming to transfer natural gas from west China to east China, from benthal area to mainland, and so on, will be able to guarantee the urban area develop and provide numeral development opportunities.

The report provides statistics, research and analysis of major enterprises engaged in the natural gas industry in China, including China National Petroleum Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Changqing Oil Field Company, Talinu Oil Field Company, Sinklang Oil Field Company, Sinopec Zhongyuan Oil and Gas High-tech Corp., Ltd.
