Join me as both consumers and investors on my quest to find opportunities, resources and solutions for green highways of the future. Part of my driving force so to speak, is my own personal path of selling and replacing my much loved current car to find a more environmentally friendly alternative and shift my priorities as a car owner from EGO to ECO.

My first resource suggestion to help educate you, as it has me, on the big picture of energy use and the energy conversion chain is a book entitled Fuelling Our Future” by Robert L Evans, available online at Amazon.com. Robert is a Professor and Founding Director of the Clean Energy Research Center at UBC . I had the pleasure of meeting with him a few months ago and he opened my eyes and ears as he was one of the first people I heard really talk about the consequences of each energy choice and evaluated the energy conversion chain.

His book and discussion then made me apply this thinking as I looked at current and alternative green choices and what the total impact on the environment would be as well as the total cost to create it .

A small example – we just released a sector close up on Ethanol stocks on our site , looking at how the sector has had its ups and downs as analysts review corn and cellulose ethanol and how much can realistically enter and impact the fuel market . As the number of cars on the road increases globally, ethanol, although a great alternative represents just a small fraction of the solution.

Going back to examining the total environmental impact, I recently watched a program

discussing the problem of farm chemicals sprayed on crops and in particular corn crops and the run off into the water systems and some of the consequences on both wildlife and human life. So if we really want to be green – we need to ensure we use environmentally safe or natural pesticides and sprays on crops.

So as we all drive forward towards a greener future – let’s really look at the total consequences and the big picture so we don’t fix one problem and create another.

To take a look at some of the ethanol public companies in the sector – feel free to visit our stock list at Renewableenergystocks.com
