This will allow law enforcement to track a shipment from its point of entry to destination and if it or the driver is compromised, it will send a signal to law enforcement in its vicinity!
Besides the Homeland Security applications, it will save infrastructure when trucks are loaded at the proper weight which will also eliminate accidents from overloaded trucks that can't brake properly; it will save transport companies from having their very valuable equipment from constant repairs and replacement, because they will be maintained and driven properly. You can imagine its application at the borders.
This can all be achieved at a relatively low price per unit and will pay for itself in savings of valuable time waiting in queue; potentially insurance brokers could give breaks when trucking companies are utilizing this compliance equipment.
It is an equalizer for the trucking industry, because it exposes trucking organizations that aren't complying with the same standards as the rest of the industry.
