Leading Biofuel Banker Paul Ho to Join Hudson Clean Energy

Ho to focus on biofuels and biomass sectors

TEANECK, N.J.--Hudson Clean Energy Partners announced today that Paul Ho has joined the firm as a Principal, overseeing their efforts in the biofuels and biomass sectors.

Paul has over 14 years of experience in the energy sector, including a focus on renewable energy and particularly on alternative fuels since 2005. Paul joins Hudson from Credit Suisse in New York, where he was Director in the Alternative Energy Group in charge of the firm’s banking efforts in alternative fuels on a global basis. At Credit Suisse, Paul led many defining transactions in the biofuels space, including the first biofuels capital markets financing (Hawkeye, 2005), the first large-scale biofuels M&A deal (Hawkeye, 2006) as well as the largest biofuels IPO (Cosan, 2007), among others. Paul also covered other alternative energy clients including companies in biomass, waste-to-energy, coal-to-liquids, coal gasification, wind, wind equipment manufacturing and hydro. In addition, Paul worked closely with many leading private equity outfits with respect to their clean energy investments.

Prior to his renewable energy focus, Paul had extensive experience in energy sector bond and bank financings, equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and advisory assignments spanning five continents, with aggregate transaction value in excess of $50 billion.

Hudson Founder and Co-Managing Partner Neil Auerbach commented, “Paul’s experience will certainly be a critical element in making Hudson’s biofuels team a leader in the industry. We anticipate that his expertise will be highly accretive to our Fund.”

Paul commented: “It is a rare opportunity to be able to work with people who are industry leaders with impeccable business credentials, but also incredibly passionate about their business. I really look forward to being a part of the Hudson team.”

“We believe that having an unrivaled management team in terms of both experience and intensity is crucial in adding value to Hudson’s endeavors,” said John Cavalier, Co-Managing Partner of Hudson. “Paul’s leadership and track record are the key ingredients that will catalyze Hudson’s already dynamic growth.”

Paul began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston in 1994 in the Global Energy Group, specializing in energy sector project financings. Prior to rejoining Credit Suisse in 2004, he worked in Goldman Sachs’ Energy Group (1999 - 2001), where he was involved in large-scale project financings for multi-national energy companies; at Luminus Management (2001 - 2002), a power sector-focused hedge fund; and at WestLB (2002 - 2004), where he focused on energy sector merchant and corporate banking opportunities.

Paul received his B.A. with distinction in Economics and Statistics from the University of Chicago.
