Markets: To help firms raise the capital they require and assist investors find their way around the capital market, the FWB assigns companies to one of three market segments: Entry Standard, General Standard, and Prime Standard. The table below provides an overview of each. The FWB also operates exchange-traded funds, mutual funds, and REIT (Real Estate Income Trusts) segments.

FWB Market Segment Overview
Entry Standard High growth, emerging companies (also known as venture capital companies that are generally more speculative). This segment offers quick, low-cost access to the capital market with few formal requirements.
General Standard This segment is particularly suitable for companies targeting national investors and opting for a cost-efficient listing. Firms in this segment are held to the minimum legal requirements.
Prime Standard The highest listing, firms in this segment have to comply with transparency requirements that go beyond the General Standards and meet the information needs of international investors.

Deutsche Börse plans resegmentation of the Open Market - February 9, 2012


On the trading platform Xetra® trading takes place from 9 a.m. till 5.30 p.m. CET. Spanish instruments on Xetra International Market, however, are tradable from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m

The opening auction in Xetra takes place from 8.50 a.m.; the closing auction takes place from 5.30 p.m. CET.

The intermediary based trading with structured products and Bonds takes place from 9 a.m. till 8.00 p.m. CET.


The pre-trading phase for all products starts at 7.30 a.m. CET. Exception: The pre-trading phase for agriculture and inflation derivatives starts at 9 a.m. CET, for CO2 derivatives at 8 a.m. CET, for weather derivatives at 9.30 a.m. CET, and for property derivatives at 7 a.m. CET.

Fixed-income trading

For variably traded bonds in the Regulated Market as well as in the regulated unofficial market (Open Market) at Frankfurter Wertpapierborse (FWB®, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange), trading takes place from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. CET. Since 1 January 2007. Closing time for acceptance of orders in mortgage bonds for which only Single Price determination takes place, is set to 11 a.m. CET for the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. For other bonds in Single Price determination, order entry is possible up until the order book is blocked for price determination.
