There are over 50 universities and 100 companies active in nanoscience and
technology R&D in China. China will spend between 2 and 2.5 billion RMB
(US$250-300MM) within 2001-2005. More aggressive initiatives are about to
launch as China wishes to match the funding of more advanced countries such
