Asian Exporter Stocks Rise, Paced by Venture; Korea Declines
Jan. 3, 2005 -- Shares of Asian exporters such as Venture Corp. and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. rose as a drop in crude oil prices allayed concern that higher fuel costs will curb economic growth.
Falling oil prices will ``benefit Asian exporters in terms of consumers' purchasing power,'' said Simon Koh, who helps invest about $600 million at Commerzbank Asset Management Ltd. in Singapore. ``Most economies can live with the current level of oil prices.''
